This is a recast of the original coin from the Platrides Family Collection. This is an Ancient Rome Judaean Half Shekel from ancient Judaea from the time of the First Jewish Revolt against Rome (AD 66-70). On the front side is a Chalice with Hebrew Date inscription which translates to "Year 2". On the reverse side is a Stem with 3 Pomegranate Buds and Hebrew inscription all around which translates to "Jerusalem The Holy".
The Great Revolt began in the year 66 AD, originating in Roman and Jewish ethnic and religious tensions. The crisis escalated due to anti-taxation protests and attacks upon Roman citizens. The Roman military garrison of Judaea was quickly overrun by rebels and the pro-Roman king Agrippa II fled Jerusalem, together with Roman officials to Galilee. The rest is History.

►►► This SPECIFIC COIN is more commonly known as a "Coin Turn". That means that the reverse side (tails) of the coins is NOT aligned with the obverse side (heads). So Please note that for this SPECIFIC coin, the Pomegranate Bud is positioned at 3 o'Clock when you turn the coin on its reverse side. This is how the specific coin was struck in Antiquity. So when you wear it, the front side will be the Chalice ◄◄◄
